WORLD FIRST AID DAY II THOUGHTFUL THURSDAYS

World First Aid Day

Basic first aid can always be useful in an emergency situation. It is important to stock basic first aid essentials at home, at your workplace and in your vehicle, which can help in handling minor injuries and accidents. Here are some tips to stay prepared:

·         Building a first aid kit: Your first aid kit should be tailored to the specific medical needs of your household, but there are some items every first aid kit should contain:

Bandages in different sizes

Alcohol wipes and sanitizer

Adhesive tape

Scissors

Latex-free gloves

Gauze roll and pads

Pain relivers

Thermometer

·         Storing a first aid kit: Your first aid kit should always be kept in a place that is easy to reach and find. However, in a household that has children, make sure it is stored in a childproof cabinet.

·         Maintaining a first aid kit : Always make sure your first aid kit is well stocked with the supplies you need. Check the expiry dates of the medications and empty out or replace out of date items at least once a year.

·         Additional Tip : Consider taking a first-aid course through a certified health authority and prepare you children for medical emergencies in age-appropriate ways.
